Thursday, April 15

Campus is closed for all Learning Group

Celebrate your love of reading and literacy:  Visit the library and check out a book in the last week of the quarter. Fill out a ballot telling us your favourite genre of books and maybe even tell us what is your favorite book.  On April 30th, we will draw two names and the lucky winners will get a gift certificate to Salt Spring Books. Reading means... the world to me!

Do you have an extra skateboard or a helmet to donate to a good cause? Former GISS student and now teacher, Monique Comeau, is looking for your gear (decks, trucks, wheels, helmets ….) to start an Indigenous Girls’ Skateboard Club in a remote community on northern Vancouver Island. You can drop off any gear you are willing to part with at Mr. Colleran’s classroom anytime next week.

All students interested in the GISPA program for the 2021/22 school year should contact Mr. Donaldson, Ms. Footz or Ms. Langer soon. Please note that audition video submissions need to be in by May 17 and that is coming soon. Have a look at the website (GISPA.ca) and contact Mr Donaldson for more info or to schedule a phone/Zoom call to answer any questions you may have.

GISS Writers' Group meets every Thursday at 5p.m. for an hour on Zoom, write to a prompt and share together whatever the pen has brought us that day! We would be very happy to invite new members and passers-by are always welcome!

If you are interested, please email Sarah Hook-Nilsson shooknilsson@sd64.org for the Zoom link.
